Principal’s Message

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! At Pocahontas we are committed to student achievement. When students, staff, families, and community partners work together, we create an environment where all students SOAR! With our intentional focus on growth and belonging, together, we will SOAR!

Together, we will grow. All students will develop new skills, understand new concepts, and apply their learning in new and meaningful ways. Our staff will focus on embedding elements of the Henrico Learner Profile into their lessons, so as students learn academic content, they are also building their creativity, critical thinking, and character. No matter a student’s individual needs, we are committed to providing the experiences, interventions, and/or support needed for the best learning experience possible.

Together, we will create a sense of belonging. Pocahontas will be a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Through caring communication, clear and warm expectations, and opportunities to shine, our Hawks will feel seen and celebrated. Dances, pep rallies, and recognitions are just a few of the ways we create the fun students need. Additionally, students are encouraged to delve into sports, extracurriculars, clubs, special programs, and more!

Parents/guardians, we want you to connect with you, too! We value your partnership and feedback. Please engage with us by joining our PTA, attending school performances, cheering on our sports teams, volunteering in the building, or through a way that works for you. Our collective effort to value one another helps Pocahontas radiate with pride and acceptance.

Together, we will do great things! We are honored to be walking with your family through such an important time in your student’s educational journey. Together, we will work side-by-side to provide students with the experiences that will make them life-ready learners and leaders.
